What does retinol do?Retinol is a vitamin A derivative that we can put onto our skin. It helps to speed up cell renewal and this can have a positive effect in terms of anti-aging, helping with fine lines, also a great effective treatment for acne and can help minimise pigmentation and keep excess pigmentation at bay.
-
What does vitamin c do?Vitamin C is a fantastic antioxidant that we can put onto our skin, it helps to protect us against environmental factors such as pollution. It improves the effectiveness of our SPF and is great at targeting pigmentation and giving us a glowing complexion.
-
What products cause acne?So when you’re thinking about acne actually Vitamin C can be a culprit that can sometimes flare up peoples acne. You definitely want to be avoiding products that are going to block the pores. So that’s things like for example lanolin, oils, fragrances.
-
What facial do you recommend? If unsure on which treatment to pick just select the bespoke facial in the treatments list and we can change on the day. I also recommend you come in for a consultation so I can take a look at your skin and advise a treatment. There are also some excellent home care products which you can purchase to continue a good routine at home which will contribute massively to the wellbeing of your skin.
-
How often should I get a facial treatment and why? Here at Zoe Skin London I recommend that you come in every 4 weeks for optimal results. Our package courses are designed to help you keep up with your treatments based on this.
-
Can I see immediate results after one session? My clients have benefited from immediate and visible results after one session of my facial treatments – such as reduced acne/ clogged pores, more radiant skin, reduced pimples and blackheads, and more. However, the results will wear off eventually if you do not maintain your skin with proper skincare regime and regular facial visits. If you wish to achieve acne-free and clear skin in the long run, it is highly recommended to go for a facial at least once a month to treat your clogged pores.
-
Do you have facials for men?I get enquiries from male customers asking if I offer facial treatments for men. YES I do! In fact, facials should be for anyone regardless of gender. Men generally experience a higher oil production which is the main cause of clogged pores. It is highly recommended to go for regular facial visits to clear those clogged pores and acne to regulate healthy skin.
-
Can I apply makeup right after facial? As your skin is in the process of healing after a facial extraction, we highly recommend to stay away from makeup for at least 1-2 days to prevent your pores from clogging from oil and impurities. During this period, your skin may experience slight redness depending on your skin sensitivity. Hence, it is advisable not to schedule your facial right before any important events.
-
Why are toners necessary in a skincare regime?Toners are pH balanced and contain active ingredients restoring the skins pH levels after a cleanser has been removed with water. Toners remove any excess cleanser, prepare skin for the application and penetration of a moisturiser. A moisturiser will always last longer, hydrating the skin when used in conjunction with a toner.
-
What is the difference between a professional skincare products or a high street range? The difference is that professional skincare ranges are full of very active ingredients that stimulate and enhance the skin. They are prescribed by a trained professional beauty therapist who knows and understands how skin functions and the best way for it to be treated for a successful result.
-
What skincare range do you use during the treatments?I am proud to use cosmeceutical skincare brand Million Dollar in my treatments, which means these products are scientifically proven to deliver change in the skin. I am also able to provide you with medical grade skincare to upgrade your at home care and really maximise your results.
-
What is a Radio Frequency treatment?Radio frequency devices use safe levels of low-frequency electromagnetic waves to generate heat. This heat penetrates deep into your skin's layers. There, it stimulates new skin cell production (regeneration). The treatment also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin.
-
What should I expect after my Microneedling treatment?Skin will be slightly pink in colour from microneedling, this usually takes 24 hours to subside. However, it may take up to two to three days depending on the extent of the treatment. You are free to return to work immediately after treatment and wear makeup 48 hours after your treatment. Because it will take about two weeks for your skin to fully recover and your results to become noticeable, it's generally a good idea to schedule this treatment at least two weeks before any important events.
-
What is Cavitation?Cavitation is the use of ultrasound technology to break down fat cells below the skin. It is a non-surgical method of reducing cellulite and localized fat. This procedure involves applying pressure on fat cells through ultrasonic vibrations.
-
What is dermaplaning?Dermaplaning gives a really deep exfoliation and will leave your skin glowing and baby smooth. I use a surgical blade to gently remove the vellus hair and dead skin to reveal a rejuvenated, brighter complexion.
-
Does the hair grow back thicker/darker?No. Dermaplaning will not alter the hair growth AT ALL – it its physically impossible. I have been Dermaplaning myself for years now and I haven’t grown a beard yet!
-
Will my skin look red after dermaplaning? Some clients do experience redness after their treatment, this is completely normal and typically subsides within a few hours.
